On May 26, 2025, SUNEL Arena opened its doors for an important moment in its journey of transformation. The official inauguration of the VIP Legends Suites paid tribute to AEK’s legendary athletes and welcomed a new era of experience-driven sports and culture.

Held in the Faidon Konstantoudakis Press Room, the event began with remarks from Mr. Makis Angelopoulos, major shareholder of AEK Betsson BC, who shared that the arena’s infrastructure phase has now been completed. He emphasized that the focus is now shifting toward the overall spectator experience, not only in terms of functionality but also in how the arena feels, looks, and connects with its audience.

“We have completed the infrastructure works. Now we will focus on the experience, on how things appear and feel. Our goal is to create a destination with basketball at its center—both on and off the court. A family-friendly destination, one that is unique on a global scale.”

Following him, Mr. Konstantinos Zygouras, CEO of SUNEL Group, spoke about the emotional and symbolic importance of the renovated suites. He described the project as “a gesture of respect towards those who wrote their own chapter in AEK’s history, and towards the stadium itself, which is now entering a new identity.”

The new Legends Suites are equipped with modern comforts and are designed to serve not only basketball fans but also host musical performances, cultural programs, and corporate events. SUNEL Arena is becoming a vibrant destination that unites legacy and innovation.

The suites now carry the names of eight legendary figures who helped shape AEK’s identity: Giorgos Amerikanos, Giorgos Trontzos, Christos Zoupas, Stelios Vasileiadis, Aias Laretzakis, Giorgos Moschos, Minas Gekos, and Dragan Sakota.

The event continued with moving speeches by some of the honorees and emotional tributes from the families of those no longer with us. Guests were then welcomed to enjoy lunch at the VIP Lounge Area, followed by a guided tour of the Legends Suites—spaces that now carry the club’s memory and pride into the future.

SUNEL Arena is proud to stand not just as a venue, but as a place where history lives, identity is celebrated, and experiences are shared across generations.
